This is ridiculous! If it was truly offensive Susan Patron's book wouldn't have won the Newbery Medal! Times are changing, six year olds are dressing like skanks and every library should have this delightfully sounding book.

The fact that librarians are objecting to this book because of the word scrotum is ridiculous and sad. It's a medical term, people!!! It's not as if they are even real literary critics, all they really have to know is the alphabet and how to count and their job is done!
I'd just like to know where all these moms get the energy to protest their local libraries! Don't they have better things to do! The book has been out for awhile now!
Shannon, I hope that you were joking about that librarian comment, because that was pretty rude. And untrue.
It is called Library Science! And it does involve a Master's degree in library science AND another Master's degree in a different subject.
I'd be curious to know how many people can actully use the Dewey Decimal System these days!
