Booking Through Thursday - Hero

You should have seen this one coming … Who is your favorite Male lead character?

Well, I can say that I don't have any favorites. I rarely read books with male lead characters--sorry. I finished reading His Dark Materials and I enjoyed Will's character more than Lyra. His maturity level and common sense kept me interested in the book. If he wasn't introduced in book two I most likely would have stopped reading since I began to find the story dull.

I enjoyed reading Harry Potter and watching his character develop over the years. I remember struggling with his character development at times, thinking he was too selfish or overconfident, and realizing that it bothered me. I think it was the first time I had been so involved with a character, like a friend, that I was concerned.

Excellent point! I think involvement with a character signifies a well-developed story!

Happy BTT and welcome!

Harry Potter has been great to watch grow up - he really did mature and change as a chracter.

I enjoyed the sense that Harry developed and grew up, too. And I liked Will.

Harry Potter had to grow up from a boy. J K Rowlings did well.

Here is my BTT post!

I liked the fact that she made Harry seem like a real teenager. And, yes, Will from His Dark Materials is a good one as well. :)

I chose Dirk Pitt for the same reason you chose Harry Potter. Happy BTT.

Welcome to BTT! I agree with your point on Harry. That's probably one of my favorite aspects of the series, seeing the kids grow. It's cool to be attached to a character for that long.

Yes indeed, Harry was a great character, and I loved watching him grow and deepen!

I liked Lyra and Will in the Pullman books - but you're right, Will's was the better character.

I haven't read His Dark Materials, but I agree with you about Harry. My favourite too came from the Potter series; I chose Dumbledore over Harry as my favourite. Both of them were brilliantly developed characters.
